Dr. Megan Weis named Director of Policy and Engagement

 

The SC Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare is pleased to announce that Megan Weis, DrPH, has accepted a new role as Director of Policy and Engagement for the Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare (CRPH). In this position, Dr. Weis will provide strategic leadership in health policy and serve as a key liaison with state and local partners and stakeholders to advance CRPH’s mission to accelerate the development of healthy rural communities. Dr. Weis will also supervise the communications strategy of the center, as well as continue to contribute to organizational strategy and initiatives.  

 

Dr. Weis’s extensive experience in policy and engaging communities and partners across governmental, academic, and non-profit sectors makes her uniquely qualified for this role,” said CRPH Director, Dr. Kevin Bennett. “As the impact of CRPH grows, we recognize the need to more intentionally connect practice to policy and advance our engagement with our state and community partners.” 

 

Before joining CRPH in 2020, Dr. Weis was a co-founder and served in numerous roles at the SC Institute of Medicine and Public health, implemented and managed surveillance systems at the SC Department of Public Health and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer working in Maternal and Child Health in Malawi, Africa; Dr. Weis is also a National Rural Health Association Health Policy Fellow, Furman University Riley Institute Diversity Fellow, and past-president of the South Carolina Public Health Association.
